Fountains serve as a symbol of joy and peace with water representing life, renewal and regeneration. Granite is one of the most durable stones. Granite is beautiful for its infinite variations, like each and every one of us. The lion’s head symbolizes courage, dignity, strength and resilience in the face of challenges.
Facing a cancer diagnosis, particularly in a private part of your body, can feel in itself, like you’re suffering an indignity. Not only does the disease render the possible ravishing of the body, but the treatment itself can have harsh and cruel consequences. It’s times like these we need to dig deep and stand tall in our own inherent dignity.
My rock was my faith, and my renewal was every attempt I made to walk tall with dignity. I did this symbolically by dressing for treatment, heels and all, then heading into the office to be with the work and the people I loved.
I found renewal in saying to cancer, “You’re not going to get the best of me,” then I gave it my all to show my best to the world.
