On these cold dark nights, I like to step out into my garden and gaze on the full moon, and this month we get a double dose. When two full moons fall into the same calendar month, that is called a blue moon. This year, the blue moon falls on Halloween.
When I look up at the night sky, it’s because I want to be engaged with the heavens, to explore the unknown. I know I’m yearning to be part of something. I don’t fully know its mysteries, and yet I desire to belong.
Standing down here in my courtyard, I like to listen to my fountain. As the water nourishes my garden, I am tuned into the natural tides of life. The streaming water is a reminder that even as I look outward to the heavens I am enveloped by the flow of life.
The blue moon is a gem. Its full bright face in the dark night sky reminds us of all that is rare and exceptional in our lives. It is a glowing symbol that illuminates power and beauty we didn’t know existed.
The moon represents dreams, intuition and the unconscious, which is mystical power, a source we don’t often recognize.
Let this time hearken you to listen to and trust your intuition so you can see beyond what is in front of you. The bright blue moon can be a beacon that helps you remember to feel into situations rather than thinking through what they mean.
The blue moon announces you are ready for the ultimate test of your soul’s capacity. It is asking you if you are ready to remove the membrane between your self and the unknown.
This time of the blue moon, falling as it does on Halloween, only occurs once every 19 years. As I look forward to my sky-gazing nights, I think of this period as a time of emancipation. I can dive into the unknown and know
that my drop of individuality is still part of the whole ocean of night sky.
THE BLUE MOON AFFIRMATION
Through my connection with the celestial, I rest in the knowledge that I belong. I hold my gaze on other ways of seeing. I set myself
free.
