It was vital to my healing that I was surrounded by people with whom I felt this exceptional kinship. Great wisdom teachers remind us that the choices we make about who we keep near us are the most life-affirming and life-giving choices we make.

This week, hold close in your heart the sense that the Universe has kindred spirits for you who love you in this way. Invite them in. Love them. Be the friend who drops off the special delivery. Honor the kindred spirits in your life by letting them know how much you appreciate and cherish them.

THE KINDRED SPIRITS AFFIRMATION

I cross the threshold and open the door to my kindred
spirits. I invite and hold dear this mystical, magical and meant-to-be
interplay.

[/et_pb_section]When I think of kindred spirits, I think of the “deep bench” I write about in my book, Permission to Live as I was healing from cancer. We enrich each other with our wisdom and shared respect. Remember that we are each others’ teachers. And we provide protection for each other.

[/et_pb_section]With a kindred spirit, it’s a give and take—never a one-way thing. Nor is it transactional—it’s more like making love deposits in a treasured account. Kindred spirits are people we deeply trust and who have our
best interest at heart. They help propel us forward. They always let us know we’re not alone.

[/et_pb_section]This past week, two of my kindred spirits left this package of homemade soup and bread at my door, and inside was the last delightful burst of summer flavor—tomatoes from their garden. The word kindred means “like
family.” We’re similar in kind. We’re related. In Irish culture, they call it “anam cara,” which means soul friend.
