From a stance of hope and balance, we can aspire to be the most magnificent humans we can be

Welcome to my garden. I’m Peggy Fiedler, and I’m a compassion advocate, cancer thriver and storyteller. Today I’d like to talk about the purple crocus.

When the first purple crocuses poked up in my neighbors’ garden, my friends couldn’t wait to share this magnificence with me. That’s because the crocus provides beauty and hope to a winter-weary garden. We’re so eager to see these first signs of cheer.

The crocus is often seen as a symbol of hope because it blooms just when we need it. Spring is here, and winter will indeed end.

It’s astonishing to think about how this hope bursts forth from an unassuming bulb planted in last fall’s cold ground. Now hope is plentiful.

Purple signifies royalty and nobility. It’s about honor and dignity. Soon the crocuses will be blooming all over, blanketing the city in majesty as we come awake from winter’s dark sleep.

Rebirth is all around us. New beginnings are always possible, no matter what time of year. This weekend brings us Spring Equinox, when the light of day and night is equally balanced. It is from this stance, in hope and in balance, that perhaps we can launch our greatest beginnings.

Purple crocuses symbolize dignity. They remind us to elevate ourselves, to aspire to be the most magnificent humans we can be.

Like a bulb, we can push our way up through the dark, unfold with grace and choose to blossom into the fullest expression of ourselves. From that higher place, we take the first step.
